Not only were the trainers that I wanted the cheapest on the internet via Derby Runner, but at the time of the order they were unable to fulfil my order for an additional pair of socks, so I received a (free) substitute with the trainers, followed by the Merino socks that I ordered a week later. I went to derby runner to have my gait analysis done as I am fairly new to running and developed pain in my knee during & after running … Rob assessed while I ran on the treadmill and offered me a selection of shoes that would correct my running style… after buying a pair of trainers & a few weeks of running later, I’ve not had a single problem with my knee & I’m over the moon!! Would definitely recommend the derby runner 👍🏻

Bought some new running trainers, very pleased with them!Updated review 2024: Returned to purchase new shoes after developing a hole in the previous ones and being close to graduating from couch 2 5k (again). The woman who served me was lovely, spending a long time getting me to try on different shoes for fit until we were both happy. I had free reign to try them on the treadmill as much as I needed. I really appreciated the care, attention, and knowledge of the staff member - I wish I'd got her name! My husband also bought some running trainers he'd had his eye on for a while, as we love to support this fantastic local business.

Second time to here to buy my running trainers. One first have been amazing but time for a new pair. The owner Rob dealt with me again and made me feel very welcome and was interested in what I was into with my fitness. I made three bus journeys to get there as I haven’t a car right now but so pleased I made the effort to go back. Thank you very much. 😊 can’t wait to get running in them!!!

Awesome service as usual. I went in with the intention to buy a certain style of running shoe. I was advised against it to prevent injury. They quite easily could have sold them to me (the more expensive ones too!), but instead suggested a wide array of shoes that would be more suited but also an improvement on my current shoes.There is no gait analysis, but the lady who served me was more than happy to record me running on the treadmill and then reviewed using their tablet followed by expert advise.I would highly recommend the Derby Runner. Free Parking and easy to get to location.

Called in today for my first ever pair of ‘real’ running shoes. I’d spoken to Carolyn earlier in the day and she was such a great help in helping me find the right pair of running shoes. She took her time with me, explained the possible reasons I’d started to get some knee pain. I told Carolyn my budget and was only shown shoes within that range. After about an hour we finally whittled it down to ‘the’ pair. I’ve just been for a Road test in them and they felt great. Plus as an added bonus, I also got the 12 Days of Christmas discount. Popped in a few months ago just to chat with them about knee pain i’d been experiencing whilst running, they immediately realised it was down to my shoes being too small as well as far too worn down. I can’t remember her name but a lovely girl helped me with gait analysis and let me try on probably about 10 different pairs of shoes, she helped me for an hour with complete patience whilst I was deciding. I’ve now been consistently running a few times a week for a few months and have experience no discomfort at all! Thank you 🙂

Could not recommend this shop enough! I went there today I hopes of walking in and getting my first pair of running trainers. I had no clue about what I wanted but the staff analysed my run on the treadmill and provided me with some great advice on what shoes I should try on, they also provide a treadmill to test out the feel and performance of each trainer. Excellent customer service! I walked away extremely happy with my purchase as I now have a pair of trainers that feel super comfortable and responsive! Definitely recommend:)

I visited Derby Runner for some help and advice after starting running again. I was running in some trainers which weren’t right for me, resulting in some nasty blisters. Rob immediately diagnosed the problem and brought me a selection of trainers to try.I didn’t initially visit Derby Runner but purchased the first trainers in a different high Street store as I thought it would be intimidating visiting a “running shop”. How wrong I was, Rob listened carefully to my problems and looked at me running on the treadmill. I left Derby Runner with new trainers which do not give me blisters and are so comfortable to run in. My running distances have more than doubled and speed is a bit faster too.All in all, do not hesitate or feel intimidated at visiting, Derby Runner, the staff are really helpful and friendly and it was a thoroughly good experience which ended up with me having great new trainers.Thanks Rob and Derby Runner.Dawn

I came here on the 12th January 2023 to get my first pair of proper running shoes, as my old trainers (air force ones) had begun wreaking heavy damage on my toenails.The staff were helpful, knowledgeable, relaxed, not judgemental at all. They allowed me to run on a treadmill and analysed my running gait - this service is free if you buy a pair of trainers, otherwise is £20.After that I was recommended a selection of different shoes, which I was able to try on and test out on the treadmill. All the trainers were great, and in the end I went with a pair of "Altra Torin 5 Mens Running Shoes" in Blue (picture provided)Big thank you to the two staff members who served me, Jude, and his manager, whose name I didn't catch, but who was also friendly and professional.I strongly recommend this place if you need a pair of running shoes, especially a first pair, and need some guidance, whichI certainly did.10 out of 10.

Having signed up for my first marathon, I’ve been training for a couple of months now. After struggling with knee pain and then ankle pain, I thought I would try the Derby Runner for some assistance with picking a new pair of trainers. Carolyn was so helpful and knowledgable. She was very patient and knew straight away which trainers would be most suitable to offer me more support. She allowed me to try on several different pairs as she wanted to make sure I picked the right pair for me. She provided great advice and knows what she is talking about. She is also clearly very passionate about running and helping others with running.The shop itself has a great selection of trainers and other running equipment. Came into the store today after reading the excellent reviews to get my daughter and myself a pair of running trainers. After Chris and Lauren had completed an analysis on us so that we recieved the correct type of trainers for our gait etc. All I can say is the service was absoutely brilliant and very proffesional from start to finish and they are very competitively priced too. So we also ended up not only buying trainers each but brought some running wear too. Would highly recommend this store for all your running needs.
